Last night, the Dig Insights team joined 300+ attendees at the official launch of Headway, a movement for healthy minds in the workplace.
The Headway launch brought people from various companies, including fellow corporate platinum sponsors, Molson Coors, Morneau Shepell, Sobeys Inc., and Canopy Growth; and travels sponsors, The Four Seasons, and West Jet, among others.
The event was attended by Canada’s top business leaders, who all pledged to support mental health in the workplace by highlighting it in company strategy meetings, incorporating it into company policies and benefits, and leading initiatives to educate leadership teams and employees on how to address mental illness and reduce stigma in the workplace.
Dig Insights Co-founder, Paul Gaudette, spoke on behalf of the company, and read out our pledge to support mental health in our own workplace:
We pledge to incorporate mental health into our workplace with both training for leadership, and treatment options for everyone that tie right into our benefits. Most importantly we want to involve employees in our discussions on how we can all be mentally healthy at work.
Also in attendance were celebrities, prominent mental health experts, and advocates, such as Canadian sports journalist, and founder of #SickNotWeak, Michael Landsberg. As host of the event, Michael shared about his own struggles with depression, and his friendship with Luke Sklar — the inspiration and catalyst behind Headway.
Last night’s event marks only the beginning of a long-term movement towards creating positive and productive workplaces that are better equipped to help employees with health struggles; and a workplace culture that is supportive of its employees’ mental well-being.
We’re not only proud to be a part of this movement, but also determined to put our pledge into action.
